Day 24

June 16, 2009

by feather

Breakfast at Jane’s, a nice walk to class, two amazing guest speakers: Lemn Sissay and Hannah Pool, a run to the Lion King theatre to try and get tickets for tonight.. x x x cross your fingers.

YES!

An afternoon in Covent Garden for lunch, cookies, street performers, and then a 5 o’clock tour of the National Theatre!!

I wasn’t sure what to expect… and I got SOO MUCH MORE than I could ever imagine. I’m speaking for the both of us when I say, we have new career paths. We got to go backstage, side stage, into the rehersal rooms, into the artist’s studio.. shall I say that again? Into the artist’s studio.. I did not want to leave, and apparently they have internships that last as long as you want them too, and one paid apprentice-ship for an entire year helping them create all the different sets! and they show between 22 and 25 productions a year! The entire experience was amazing and I now want to work on sets in theatre’s and movies. AND kristyn does too, but the tech & backstage stuff :) I’ll let her talk about her experience.

THEN, we had to quickly head out so we could make it to the theatre on time for.. The Lion King.

I have never witnessed in my life something so spectacular.

It was the best performance I’ve seen so far. Some of the acting and acents weren’t up to par for such a production.. but the dancing, acrobats, singing, and other acting adn acents were Awe-Some. I was engulfed in the play and my eyes were teary at three separate times, and I almost might have actually shed a tear :) at one point. I can’t even begin to explain how I felt being in the experience, I wish it never ended and I could see it on repeat. And I wouldn’t get sick of it, I know..

I bought the soundtrack of course :)

And of course! This just sealed the deal for me wanting to work on sets ;)

Anyway, I’m sure you get the point. I need to get to bed though because we’re waking up wonderfully Early to get good tickets to the matinee of WICKED for tomorrow!!! We’ll let you know how it goes.

so far… BEST DAY EVER!!!

  1. I am giggling and enjoying the photos – nice angles and interesting shots. Even the mundane can be so comical- love Kristyn peeking through the bridge and the picture of the two sheep having dinner with their mama. Hugs!
